J Dunja, born Desmond Cousins, was born and raised in Mantee, Mississippi until the age of 19, you can clearly hear the southern influence in his Hip-Hop songs.However, a greater depth of diversity in his music is partially accredited to his 11 years of United States military service completed worldwide. J Dunja’s music has been described as a “feel good” brand that sparks thought and emotion upon analysis of his lyrics. His personality shines through every song, showing multiple sides of insightful thought. J Dunja’s music can be compared to that of artist such as OutKast, John Legend, B.O.B, Big Krit, J Cole, and Redman. It should be of no surprise to learn that along with east coast icons NAS, Jay-Z, and Wu Tang Clan, have influenced his music as well. J Dunja has built a strong camaraderie and solidified his position on the local music scene in Lexington Park, MD and is known to be a Hip-Hop mecca in Southern Maryland. J Dunja’s has known modest success being a former member of “The Committee,” opening up for global acts such as Slim Thug, Bone Thugs N Harmony, T.I., Juvenile, and 8 Ball & MJG.
